Why ChromeOS?
Security - With ChromeOS everything is cloud stored. This makes it immune to Ransomware. ChromeOS is also built on Linux and cannot run malware files associated with Microsoft Windows.
Cost - The hardware costs are less than half of those for comparable Windows Laptops. There are further savings from forgoing the need of expensive Anti-Virus Software.
Support - Time spent on support is reduced.
Known Issues: Some known issues or deficiencies where something does not work as well as on Windows.
They often do not remember the order monitors were set in for a particular work station if you move to another then back again.
Jabra headsets will not ring out loud for incoming Teams calls. Microsoft is working on adding this to Teams Web verision but there is no ETA.
Control menu.
Clicking on the time section will bring up a menu. This screen has options for restarting or shutting down. Controlling the Sound/Mic input/outputs, Screen Captures etc. The little gear Icon will open up the system settings were you can use the search for useful settings such has Display (monitor) arrangement or setting your wallpaper.
Clear Browser/App cache.
Similar to how a good ol' reboot fixes many problems in Windows, Chrome OS too as its equivalent but it does not include restarting.
Open your Chrome Browser, hit the 3 dot menu on the top right. Select Delete Browsing Date. Set the Time Range in the pop up window to All Time. Select everything and hit Delete Data. This will clear the cache in the Browser and thus the entire system. You will need to log back into Teams and Outlook after using Multi Factor authentication.
This will fix common issues like Outlook messages not showing up, or strangeness in EMHware.
Mic and Camera Control.
Keep on your Mic and Camera setting on the Shelf (Dock bar at the bottom of the screen). This will show you if your mic is muted at the system level (everywhere as opposed to just Teams.)
Lock your screen.
To lock your screen when you step away: ChromeOS has an"Everything key" (sold dot on your Chromebook or magnifying glass. On Chromeflex or an external keyboard, use the Windows Key. This is used for many combo functions.
To lock you screen when you step away: Press the Everything Key plus the L key. This is similar to locking with ctrl-alt-del on a PC.

Page scrolling on touchpad.
Use 2 fingers on the Chromebooks trackpad to scroll up and down on webpages and documents.
Tiling to have one screen with multiple apps.
Hover your mouse over the maximize button to show you tiling options. This is a convenient way to work with documents side by side. or to have Teams open while searching the internet.
Managing Outlook and Teams notifications require some considerations as they are a personal choice. The notification badges on Outlook and Teams icons pinned to your shelf often do not work and are at best unreliable. Here are a couple ways to manage.
Notification Pop-ups.
The notification indicator will show a number for new notifications. In this case, that I received a new Outlook message. (Teams messages show up here very unreliably something Microsoft is working on).
Tabbed Teams and Outlook for better notifications.
You may benefit from opening Outook and Teams as browser tabs. Since you will have Chrome browser open, you can easily keep an eye on both the Outlook new email and Teams new message indicators simultaneously. Notice the 1 for one new chat on Teams. and the Red dot on Outlook indicating a new message.

Change Background on Teams PWA (Web version)
In Teams, go to the CMHLG Team, General Channel. Files - Administrative - Marketing and Communications - Teams CMHLG Background Images.
Download the background of your choosing.
Go to Teams Calendar. Meet now. Start a meeting. This will bring up a meeting so you can change the back ground. Click on Background filters. Add new. Browse to your downloads where you saved the Background.
You can close the meeting. It will now be an option next time you log in.
